Public sector apprenticeship targets
The Public Sector Apprenticeship Targets Regulations 2017 were made under powers given by the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 and the Public Sector Apprenticeship Targets (Amendment) Regulations 2021.
The regulations came into force on 1 April 2021. They require all public bodies (in scope of the target) with 250 or more staff in England as of 31 March 2021 to report the data detailed on this page.
Apprenticeship data for the year April 2021 - March 2022
- The number of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) employees whose employment in England by NHSBT began in April 2021 to March 2022 was 804 (taken from our staff list)
- The number of apprentices employed by NHSBT whose apprenticeship agreements began in April 2021 to March 2022, including both employees who were already working for NHSBT before beginning their apprenticeship and new apprentice hires, was 104
- The number of NHSBT employees employed in England at the end of March 2022 was 6407
- The number of apprentices who worked for NHSBT at the end of March 2022 was 187
- The percentage of apprentices employed by NHSBT whose apprenticeship agreements began in April 2021 to March 2022 vs. the number employees whose employment in England by NHSBT began in April 2021 to March 2022 was 12.94%
- The percentage of apprentices who worked for NHSBT at the end of March 2022 vs. the number of NHSBT employees employed in England at the end of March 2022 was 2.92%
- The number of apprentices who worked for NHSBT immediately before April 2021 was 137
- NHSBT's headcount on 31 March 2022 was 6407
- The percentage of apprentices employed by NHSBT whose apprenticeship agreements began in April 2021 to March 2022, including both employees who were already working for NHSBT before beginning their apprenticeship and new apprentice hires, vs. NHSBT's headcount on 31 March 2022 was 1.62%
