10 Year Health Plan

In October 2024, the Government launched a public engagement exercise asking people and organisations to share their experiences, views and ideas to help shape a 10 Year Health Plan.

A first engagement phase closed on 2 December 2024, and we provided an organisational response with four key asks of the Government and NHS:

  1. Support systemic changes that shift the dial on reducing the organ and tissue transplant waiting list
  2. Help transform the way we speak to the public about donation
  3. Support for more innovation – we can create new treatments and services at scale for NHS patients and help the UK to become more self-sufficient in blood and tissue products
  4. Improve NHS–wide interoperability on blood supply to increase efficiency, productivity, safety and resilience.

We also set out how we could expand and use our genomics programme more widely.
