Donation if you are LGBT+

Key information on donation from LGBT+ people.

You can donate if you are LGBT+.

LGBT+ people donate and save lives all the time, though we know how frustrating the three-month deferral for blood donation can be if you are a man who has had sex with a man. Any deferral is disappointing when you want to save lives.

It can be difficult to find the right information across all the forms of donation. We’ve worked to compile and summarise the key information on donation from LGBT+ people, with links to more information, including updates on the ongoing collaborative research which might enable some gay and bisexual men to donate blood without a deferral.
