New non-executive director appointment

Professor Charles Craddock has been appointed as non-executive director at NHSBT for three years, with effect from Wednesday, 8 June.

Charles Craddock is Professor of Haemato-oncology at the University of Birmingham and Director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Programme at University Hospitals Birmingham.

Professor Craddock’s main research interests include the development of novel drug and transplant therapies in myeloid leukaemias. He is Chair of the National Cancer Research Institute Acute Myeloid Leukaemia Working Group, Chair of the UK Stem Cell Strategic Oversight Committee and leads the UK Haemato-oncology Trials Acceleration Programme.

Professor Craddock, who was awarded the CBE in 2016, was Medical Director of Anthony Nolan from 2010–2014.

He says, “I am greatly looking forward to joining the NHSBT Board and contributing to its vital work transforming patient outcomes.”

This appointment was made in accordance with the Cabinet Office Code of Governance for Public Appointments.
