LGBT+ people donate and save lives all the time, though we know how frustrating a deferral for blood donation can be. Any deferral is disappointing when you want to save lives.

The UK’s blood services are working with the NHSBT LGBT+ Network, experts in epidemiology, virology and psychology and external stakeholders such as Stonewall and the Terrence Higgins Trust to make blood donation more inclusive.

We assess your eligibility to give blood based solely on your own individual experiences. The FAIR changes mean that many more gay, bi men and other men who have sex with men be able to donate blood more easily.
