Inspiring young people to donate blood

ITV2's Blood Squad campaign encourages young people to register to give blood.

We are joining forces with ITV2 for the fourth time for the Blood Squad campaign. This campaign appeals to young blood donors to register and be ready to donate blood when NHS Blood and Transplant needs them.

Our most recent partnership aims to ‘take the biscuit’ out of blood donation in a series of tongue in cheek style adverts, urging viewers to ‘Save Lives, grab a biscuit’ in reference to the complimentary snacks offered to donors after donating blood.

The Blood Squad has been incredibly successful at encouraging young people to sign up to donate blood, and as a direct result of the campaign in past years, 50,000 people (many of them 16-34-year-olds) have registered as blood donors.
