NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) staff have a number of responsibilities that accompany their day-to-day tasks. Guidance on these responsibilities is outlined below.

NHSBT has a policy for when staff are offered any sort of gift or sponsorship. For details, please refer to the following document:

Acknowledgement of NHSBT’s support in publications

Please ensure that the support you receive from NHSBT (for example salaries, grants or accommodation) is acknowledged in all publications.  This should be in the form of:

  • Affiliation: if part or all of the salaries of named authors is paid directly or indirectly by NHSBT then this should be recognised by an affiliation to NHS Blood and Transplant.  For example, “Blood Research Laboratory, NHS Blood and Transplant, Oxford or Component Development Laboratory, NHS Blood and Transplant, Cambridge.”
  • Grant funding: the reference numbers for all relevant workpackages and project grants should be included in the funding section of papers.  Where general research funding from NHSBT is used to support published work this should be acknowledged as follows: “This work was supported by research funding from NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT)”.
