Desmopressin in critical illness
Title: A placebo-controlled double-blind, randomised feasibility trial of desmopressin (DDAVP) in critical illness prior to interventional procedures
Chief investigator: Dr Michael Desborough
Critically ill patients with low platelet counts are vulnerable to bleeding.
This study aims to test if a drug called desmopressin can be used to prevent bleeding for these patients when they undergo surgery.
The pilot study will assess if it is possible to identify eligible patients and administer this drug promptly
