Clinical Trials Unit

We are fully registered with the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) and have over 15 years experience of managing clinical trials

We are supporting national research dedicated to understanding COVID-19 and improving the outcome for patients.

A national treatment trial has been set up to establish whether COVID-19 convalescent plasma benefits patients and at what point in their illness they should be treated.

Could you donate plasma?

If you have recovered from COVID-19, you may be able to help coronavirus patients by volunteering to donate plasma.

How to get involved

Important update

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been changes to the recruitment of some of our trials. We are now home-based during the COVID-19 outbreak, but available and working. Please email the relevant trial mailbox, or the named contact for urgent matters. Responses may however take longer than normal as staff may be working altered hours.

Our CTU is fully registered with the UKCRC

Our Clinical Trials Unit (CTU)

Our team delivers high quality clinical trials to provide the evidence that will improve patient care.

Our aim is to collaborate with researchers in the design, conduct, analysis and publication of clinical trials and other prospective studies, primarily in the fields of transfusion medicine, organ donation and transplantation, tissue and stem cell transplantation.

We welcome enquires from investigators wishing to work with the NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) Clinical Trials Unit (CTU).

Please contact us with any enquiries.

Our CTU is proud to support the AllTrials campaign for all clinical trials to be registered and all results reported.
