Latest news and updates from the PANDA study
Updated 6 February 2025

So far we have recruited:
224/11,020 people
and we currently have 21 antenatal services recruiting women across England.
Thank you for helping us understand more about using iron tablets when pregnant.

We have some important questions you can help us to answer.
Having anaemia during pregnancy can affect choices, such as where someone can give birth, and in some cases, it can impact the health of mum and baby.
We might be able to stop anaemia from developing if we give iron tablets during pregnancy.
We want to know:
- If taking a prescribed dose of iron during pregnancy helps to prevent anaemia
- How we can help women to take their supplements as recommended
You are all helping us to answer these important questions, which could benefit women with their future pregnancies and provide healthcare professionals with information to improve future maternity care.
