About us

Our focus is on how blood components for transfusion are produced, stored and monitored.

We validate changes to these processes in order to improve the supply of blood components to the NHS.

Our projects might be prompted by requests from hospitals for new products, or be driven by the need to improve blood safety or to improve efficiencies across the blood supply chain – such as reducing wastage, for example.

Our team of scientists also contribute to setting national and international standards, and we provide our expertise to advisory committees for governments, health bodies and other regulators.

We collaborate with commercial partners on major projects and studies, where it can be shown that this collaboration will benefit the NHS and its patients.
