Riley had chemotherapy at Manchester Christie Hospital, this treatment, although fought the blood cancer, depletes his body of the ability to make platelets so Riley had to receive donated platelet transfusions. He was having nose bleeds and the platelets helped stop these.

Riley said: "Since my treatment, I am back to studying and gradually getting my life back on track. I want to say a huge thank you to the donors who helped me on the road to my recovery."
