This is where advanced therapies comes in. Advanced therapies use stem cells to kick-start the regenerative process, create healthy cells and restore damaged ones.

How advanced therapies help

Right now, our laboratories are manufacturing red blood cells from stem cells, which will be transfused into humans. This is the first mass clinical trial of its kind. If it’s successful it will reduce exposure risks for patients who require multiple, regular transfusions. This will ultimately give them a better quality of life.

Strengthen our position in the development, assessment and clinical delivery of regenerative medicine based therapies
Conduct a first-in-man clinical trial of manufactured red cells to compare the survival of red cells manufactured from stem cells with that of standard red cells from blood donors
Continue to support pre-clinical science on manufactured red cells and platelets with cell biology research to understand how stem cells turn into blood cells
