Manchester City Council
Encouraging donors across Manchester
"This partnership has the potential to save lives across the city."
David Regan Director Of Public Health, Manchester City Council
The council formed a partnership with NHSBT in 2013 to encourage more people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register and give blood in Manchester.
Since then the council have promoted both blood and organ donation to its employees and residents through news features in the local press, events, articles on its website and through staff newsletters.
The council supported National Blood Week by transforming a flower bed in front of the Etihad Stadium, planting red begonias in the shape of the Give Blood logo. And for Organ Donation Week the council shared campaign messages on social media and displayed promotional material in the customer service centre and in Manchester City library.
David Regan, Director Of Public Health said: "This partnership has the potential to save lives across the city which is why we are committed to doing all we can to increase the rates of blood and organ donations from our own staff and residents in Manchester."
