When you join us you will be helping to make a genuine difference to the lives of thousands of communities, families and friends across the UK.

A blood donor donating blood, looked after by two Blood Donation Healthcare AssistantsOur Healthcare Assistants in Blood Donation are key members of our team, who play a vital role in saving and improving lives every day.

They are the people who look after our donors when they visit us to donate their blood. They give a warm welcome to our donors, assess their eligibility to donate, take their blood donations and generally look after our donors' well-being while they’re with us. It's highly rewarding, important work as part of an amazing team.

You don’t need any specific qualifications to join us, just experience of working with people and a passion for delivering great customer service.

Before applying though, it’s important to understand that this role means you need to be comfortable with looking at blood and needles and as you will be trained in venepuncture, which is inserting a needle in a donor's arm to take blood.

Our teams are either based at one of our fixed donor centres, or they are one of our mobile teams who travel to different locations each day. The mobile teams also drive our vans and mini-buses, as well as loading, unloading and assembling mobile donation session equipment.

Whichever type of team you join, you will be given full training in your first few weeks to prepare you to do the role confidently and safely.

"This is a great opportunity for you to join a fantastic organisation and to become part of a wider team who help save and improve lives"
