Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer

Bring extraordinary people together and Inspire change that saves lives.

Join us and become a leader of diversity and inclusion for a one-of-a-kind organisation.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is dedicated to saving and improving lives. We’re an essential part of the NHS, providing a wide range of services including blood transfusion, organ transplantation and diagnostics.

We stand for helping ordinary people do something extraordinary - saving and improving lives with valuable donations. It’s down to each and every one of us, and that’s why diversity and inclusion has to be at the heart of what we do.

We believe that becoming a truly diverse and inclusive organisation will transform our service for the better. Though we’ve made progress in creating an environment that reflects our teams and the people we serve, we want to set our ambitions even higher.

Our new D&I leadership opportunity

We need an inspirational and dedicated individual to join our executive team and shape our approach to D&I. We’ve created a new role that offers a unique combination of far-reaching autonomy over both D&I and corporate culture - it’ll be down to you to devise and execute a transformative strategy that makes D&I a priority across our workforce and donor base, working closely with the CEO and the wider Executive Team.

As part of this, you’ll collaborate with stakeholders at the most senior levels, introduce new, innovative approaches to D&I education and inclusive thinking, setting measures to track every improvement and coordinating our efforts on a national scale.

Who we're looking for

You’ll be a natural and confident leader with significant experience in creating and delivering change initiatives, inspiring others to get behind your ideas. Building strong working relationships is a fundamental part of your approach, and collaboration with people on every level is a must.

You’ll also need strong analytical skills as well as the ability to translate metrics and research into strategy. Strong familiarity with legal matters related to diversity, equality and inclusion is also essential.

As we’re a national organisation, you’ll also need to be prepared for occasional travel to coordinate our teams and make your efforts a success.

Lastly, at the heart of everything you do, there’ll be a deep resolve and a true passion for promoting diversity, driving cultural change and making this a great place to work for everybody, regardless of race, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation.

What we can offer you

There is so much to be said about the job satisfaction that our team members get from their work. With us, you’ll be at the heart of an organisation that’s saving and transforming countless lives every day.

At NHSBT, we also value the immense knowledge that our highly skilled team brings to our work. We’ll invest heavily in your personal and professional needs, from progressive training and development opportunities through to competitive pension schemes and generous annual leave allowance. It’s about making sure every NHSBT employee is truly happy in their work. Join us, experience a great work-life balance and a sense of achievement that can’t be found anywhere else.
