NHSBT Trigger

Trigger - Transfusion in Gastrointestinal Bleeding

Welcome to the TRIGGER trial

The TRIGGER trial is a pragmatic study aiming to recruit adult patients admitted with all cause Acute Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding. The study is taking place in six UK hospitals and they have been randomly allocated to a transfusion policy at the cluster level; three sites to a restrictive transfusion policy and three to a liberal transfusion policy. Recruitment will operate for 6 months in total.

This website provides some key documents for participating sites, including recruitment figures and is a source of information for both health care professionals and members of the public who may be interested in the study.

This feasibility study is now closed to recruitment. Final Data Quality Control is being performed by the Data Management team and the study Statistician. We aim to lock the database on 15th August 2013 for the final analysis and to have the results ready for dissemination in December 2013.
